Term 3 · Paper set 2 · Paper I · A/L Chemistry

Grade 12 Term 3 test, second paper set, in the format of the G.C.E. (A/L) Chemistry Paper I: 50 multiple-choice questions, two hours, no calculators. About 60% of the marks test this term's work (Units 7 to 10: organic compounds, hydrocarbons and halides, oxygen compounds, nitrogen compounds, with Units 9 and 10 tested lightly) and about 40% test Terms 1 and 2 (Units 1 to 6). Questions 1–30 have one correct answer. In questions 31–40 one or more of the responses (a), (b), (c) and (d) is correct: choose (1) if only (a) and (b) are correct, (2) if only (b) and (c), (3) if only (c) and (d), (4) if only (d) and (a), and (5) for any other number or combination of correct responses. Questions 41–50 give two statements; choose the response that best fits them. Universal gas constant R = 8.314 J K⁻¹ mol⁻¹, Avogadro constant = 6.022 × 10²³ mol⁻¹, Planck constant h = 6.626 × 10⁻³⁴ J s, speed of light c = 3 × 10⁸ m s⁻¹. Relative atomic masses are given in the questions where needed. Each question links to the lesson it tests.
